Passengers that purchase their tickets which cannot be cancelled, may contract cancellation insurance which will cover reimbursement of the ticket amount if, for reasons of force majeure as outlined in the insurance terms, they cannot take the trip. The insurance also covers the return trip if the outbound trip has already been carried out and a claim arises from any of the causes covered. Furthermore, the insurance also covers the passenger’s vehicle in the event of an accident or break down.
The travel cancellation insurance policy must be taken out when making the reservation and it cannot be taken out once then reservation is confirmed and paid.
The amount of the insurance is 4% of the ticket amount after all charges and discounts have been applied. This insurance allows for ticket cancellation, meaning the passenger recovers the full amount of the ticket, except for the insurance fee.
The policy is owned by Europea Seguros de Viaje; the passenger must direct any claims for ticket reimbursement to that company in the event of cancellation.
